My name is Allyssa Ray Yamaguchi-Juárez

Allyssa Yamaguchi grew up in Mission, Texas, and resides in Maryland. She completed her Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art and earned her Graduate Certificate in Arts Management at American University in Washington, DC, in May 2021. Allyssa is an exhibiting artist and an Adjunct Instructor who has taught at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, and American University in Washington, DC.

In 2018, Allyssa participated in an Artist Residency at the Chautauqua School of the Fine and Performing Arts. She has exhibited her works in numerous juried and group exhibitions, including "Free Punch & Pie" at the American University Katzen Art Museum in Washington, DC, "Those Spaces Between Us" at the Target Gallery in the Torpedo Factory Art Center in 2021, the "Chautauqua School of Art Annual Student Exhibition" at Fowler and Kellogg Art Center in Chautauqua, New York, and "Viva La Femme! Exhibition of Women Artists" at L’Atelier Berkshires Art Gallery in Barrington, Massachusetts. Allyssa was recently published in the Autumn 2022 issue of EcoTheo Collective and is currently exhibiting her artworks in galleries in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas.

Allyssa Yamaguchi-Juárez was honored to serve as a Grant Review Panelist for the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC) during three grant review periods and earned the Van Swearingen Scholarship from 2019 to 2021. She is currently working on a series of oil paintings where she explores themes of escapism, fantasy, and the allure of idealism.
